On Wednesday, December 20th, 2017, the UW-Extension Dairy Team will be hosting a “Better Heifers, Better Cows” Dairy Heifer Meeting at Liberty Hall in Kimberly. This meeting will focus on the current research for heifer efficiencies, specifically in milk quality, nutrition, and economics, and is recommended for dairy farmers, custom heifer raisers, veterinarians, nutritionists, and anyone with a concern with raising dairy replacement.
It is to be noted that veterinary continuing education credits have been applied for this meeting through the Northeast Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association.

- UW-Extension Milk Quality Specialist Pamela Ruegg, DVM on Using PXR Tests to Diagnose Mastitis and Calving Healthy Heifers-How to Maximize Udder Health
- UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science Post-Doctoral Researcher Sonia Gelsinger, PhD on Neonatal Calf Nutrition Implications for Long-Term Performance
- UW-Madison Department of Dairy Science Adjunct/Affiliate Member & VitaPlus Dairy Youngstock Technical Specialist Noah Litherland, PhD, on Nutrition and Management for Transitioning the First Calf Heifer
- UW-Extension Dairy Agents Sarah Mills-Lloyd and Tina Kohlman on Finding the Balance-Management of Calf Health vs Cost of Production.
