Wisconsin 4-H Educational Travel Opportunities 

Applications Due February 1

(Applications will be available December 1)

Explore Wisconsin | WHEN: 2 days in Summer 

WHERE: Wisconsin (destination chose by youth)
Cost: If selected for scholarship, 4-H Adult Leaders Association pays 75%, delegate responsible for 25%.

Qualifications: Be in 6th-7th grade at time of program, maximum age 15

Wisconsin 4-H & Youth Conference | WHEN: June 24-27, 2019

WHERE: UW-Madison
At this pre-college program in Madison where participants take part in educational seminars and assemblies and meet people from across Wisconsin. They are encouraged to take what they learn and share it with others in their home community.
Cost: Approximate cost $300. If selected for scholarship, 4-H Adult Leaders Association pays 75%, delegate responsible for 25%.

Qualifications: Be in 7th-10th grade at time of selection.

National 4-H Congress | WHEN: November 22-26, 2019

Atlanta, Georgia
Delegates participate in self-development seminars, tours, and community service, while exchanging ideas with youth from across the nation.
Cost: Approximate cost $1,200. If selected for scholarship, 4-H Adult Leaders Association pays 75%, delegate responsible for 25%.

Qualifications: Be in 10th-12th grade at time of selection, Max age 18 as of January 1, of current 4-H year, and be enrolled in the Youth Leadership project.

Key Award

Recognizes 4-H participants, who have demonstrated consistent growth in the 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in the functions of their 4-H club and community. Must be 14 as of January 1, of current 4-H year. Must have completed 3 years of 4-H and one year of youth leadership.

Applications Due November 1

Space Camp | WHEN: April 25-29, 2019

Hunstville, Alabama
Delegates team up for hands-on mock space missions and other STEM activities in this NASA program while exchanging ideas with 4-H youth from across Wisconsin.
Qualifications: Be in grades 6-8 at time of program, maximum age 15.
Cost: Delegate responsible for approximately $300.
Camp Counselors also needed and may be in 7th-10th grade at the time of program.

 

American Spirit Trip | WHEN: June 2019

East Coast USA & Niagara Falls
Participants travel to Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and more while exploring Valley Forge, an Amish Experience, Statue of Liberty, The Plymouth Plantation, Whale Watching, Niagara Falls, and more.
Cost: Delegate responsible for approximately $550.
Qualifications: Be in grades 8-10 at time of selection. Youth will need a passport (book or card).

 

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) |  WHEN: 8 days in the summer 

National 4-H Center, Washington D.C.
In this leadership program participants learn the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders. The week consists of participatory workshops, speakers, committee work, field trips and social events.
Cost: Delegate responsible for approximately $550.
Qualifications: Be in 10th-12th grade at time of selection, minimum age 15 during program.

 

National 4-H Conference | WHEN: April 5-11, 2019

National 4-H Center, Washington D.C.
Brings together 4-H youth and adults from around the nation to work towards strengthening and expanding the 4-H Youth Development programs at all levels. This is the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture’s premier youth development opportunity to engage youth in developing recommendations for the 4-H Youth Development Program. An application will be available through 4honline. You must also apply through the county to acquire partial funding through the Leaders Association by using the application form found below.

Qualifications: Be in grades 10-12 at time of selection with a maximum age of 18 as of year of travel. Delegates must be selected at both county and state level. Must be enrolled in Youth Leadership Project.

4-H Chaperone Application Form

Capable, caring adults play important roles in the lives of youth involved in 4-H Youth Development Programs. This form applies to all adults, paid staff, and volunteers, accompanying 4-H youth on a UW-Extension sponsored trip or event. The adult, by signing this form, agrees to conduct herself/himself in a responsible manner and abide by all expectations state in form.

Wisconsin 4-H Adult Advisor Application

Form is needed for Space Camp, National 4-H Congress, Citizenship Washington Focus, International Immersion programs. Applicants must be at least 21 years old (25 for some international experience) at the time of program. Applicants must have completed the Wisconsin 4-H Youth Protection program and currently be registered as 4-H leaders.
